@oktofoniq Dear Okto, You are right. I've heard this instrument recorded many times and this is the only time it has had sufficient balls. Maybe the strings - but more likely the engineer recognized what needed to be done.

Magnifique clavecin Hans Rückers avec originellement un clavier transpositeur et des feintes brisées pour les demi tons chromatiques et diatoniques. Cet instrument autrefois propriété de la famille De Sade (que le divin marquis a possédé) se trouvait dans leur château de Condé en Brie (entre Dormans et Château Thierry). Il a été vendu au musée d'Unterlinden de Colmar par le dernier membre de la famille De Sade sans héritier, ainsi que le château et toutes les propriétés.

On this recording, the harpsichord has an incredibly strong presence, particularly in the low end. Anyone know why? I'm guessing it's just a close positioning of the microphones perhaps?

@oktofoniq The material from which the strings are made and by what kind of plectrum they are plucked make (or break) the sound of a harpsichord.
