Korogocho slum has the reputation of being the most dangerous among all slum dwellings in the city when it comes to criminal activities. Criminals have preyed on young boys and girls as they walk to school every day. But parents have had no choice but to send their children to school even when they are not sure their sons and daughters will return home safely. Many of the schools have also been established within homesteads making it difficult for children to drink from the fountain of knowledge.

  • That's why many people in these corrupt African countries dont make it and tend to drop out. If they dont make a change for the better now. What do they expect for the children of the future. When education system is very poor. Its not surprising that you will find people especially children in these countries following the path of violence and doing drugs. When the positives are not provided. No good education. So they lose confidence and self esteem. Then they turn to violence and drugs

  • The Government doesnt care. All the money that belongs to Kenya and is supposed to be used to help develop the country is going to their wallets. Not just Kenya, same for all the other countries African countries in corruption.

  • Another example of African mismanagement and coruption. Its the governments fault. Do not argue with me on stupid argument such as these people are lazy. They are not lazy , their government has abandon them. If all the governments revenue was used properly and fairly that resources could go very far.

  • Our government keep wasting money on useless projects, corruption and wasting money buying gas guzzlers yet it has failed to build more schools. Whats the point of free primary eduaction if you cannot build more schools. That is why some people have taken advantage of that deficit and opened schools not fit for peupose. We need a school building programme to match the demand and the ever growing children population.

  • why have kids if u cant take care of them...kwani condoms ziimeisha..... and then expect the imbeciles in GOK to come out and help.....tsk Pliz!!!

  • on another note, that reporter is sexy

  • damn, this is rough living. The govt should do SOMETHING. Until when will we rely on foreign donors while the political hyenas fatten their bellies in runda, loresho, lavington etc

  • Exactly, it's not about being luo or whatever tribe, it's about us, kenyans. Why lie, i can never be comfortable in my house after this. I am doing something!

We have to ask ourselves why we got to see this,we have to initiate change.

  • stupid thought process of a tribalist who's never known life in an informal settlement. This is a national problem, not a Luo or a Raila(as a Luo) problem. To shave some ignorance from your sheltered brain mr. garucha200, korogocho abuts Kariobangi north and is mostly populated by the somali, kikuyu, luhya and yes luo.

  • Hon Raila, most of this kids are luo's, the backbone of your political asset, yet your belly keep growing bigger by the day.
