was taken from a movie?

If this scene is true, the most amazing thing about this clip is that Karen actually thought this take was anything less than perfect.

@ObscurityMiss86 Thanks so much for commenting. Yep, it's true. Mike and I searched the entire building...all of the doors were locked. It wasn't creepy but just empty; the editing suites and the warehouse. This was 2am in the morning in basically the middle of nowhere in the burbs of Chicago. Also, Mike really never knew who the Carpenters were being much youger than I. Him confirming that the girl that peeked in looked like the girl on the cd, (Karen) was to amazing!

@isalaye The name of the song is "Now" from the 1983 Carpenters album "Voice of the Heart"

@windstorm1000 April, 1982 it was recorded. I had emailed Richard Carpenter in 2007 see if there might be any film footage but unfortunately not. He referred to this as a lead track. Karen came in, sang the song acapella and it was recorded. The final arrangements and music were not added until after her passing. That has always blown me away. She never her the final version. Pure perfection. I get good chills no matter how many times I listen to this. Now is pure Gold!

People say that Karen sang like an angel but I suspect the angels sing like Karen Carpenter.

@MrJoey425 ...i truly believe she was
Having used this song as the final portion of my parent's 40 anniversary video, I was editing with my buddy Mike at 2am in a studio in suburban Chicago. Out of the corner of our eyes, we saw a young girl with long black hair and a knitted white crochet ponch peek into the studio and walk away. There was no one else in the entire building. Mike looked at the cd cover from Voice of the Heart and said, that looked just like Karen. I think she was giving us her approval of honoring her music. Wow!

Ironic that this was one of her finest recordings. Richard has mused on that many times. As in poor health as she might have been she still was magnificent.
