In this second part of our visit to Strasburg, 2-10-0 #90 takes over the freight train and performs runbys. At Leaman Place, westbound Amtrak train #43, the Pennsylvanian, makes a cameo appearence with a P42DC on the head end.

  • It's rare to see #90 on a freight charter, and the Amtrak train ruined the shot of a

    1930's era freight train.

  • Probably when 90 was built, most wooden freight cars were replaced by their steel counterparts.

  • where did #90 go in the video cause at 1:28 I see him on the old main line

  • The train was on the runaround track, which is right next to Amtrak's Keystone Corridor.

  • Love the amtrak meet!

  • That meet was purely luck. I had no idea it was coming until I heard the welded rail start to hum.

  • @TVRM610 Think of it is as a meeting of both old and new technolgies

  • @boberttrain831 I stand corrected she was going down for a one year rebuild sorry if there was any confusion.

  • @boberttrain831 could be a sign that 90 will be going down for her 15 year rebuild soon

  • @w29bum out of all of my visits to the railroad since june, 90 was always one of the locomotives operating. Strasburg does have 4 steam locomotives so maybe they're trying to use others for a change. I can assure you that 90 is getting a lot of usage on the SRR

  • That was a Keystone Service, not a Pennsylvanian.

  • Great footage!

  • does anyone know why #90 isnt running that much anymore at strasburg?

  • Last time I was there - in 69 - it was a GGI hauling a Penn Central passenger train west that went by while my 7th grade class was on the train! LOL! Three tracks on the mainline then, too!

  • great shots! I love #90...I've always thought though, that an engine as big as old #90 should have a deep, deep whistle...
