@Cantormatis It's still not funny, especially when we consider his terrible end at the hands of the NAZIS.

so wonderful!!! surpassing our Jussi!

Great, great, great singer! That lil' Jew could sure sing pretty! ;) (I write that as a short singing Jew, by the way.)

Joseph Schmidt is a Classic Example of the "Art of Bel Canto." Nothing and no one can be heard on the operatic stage today that can match his beautiful singing.

A truly beautiful voice. Thank you for this video.

The song is by Arturo Buzzi-Pescia.

Tosti did NOT write this song! PLEASE stop spreading this falsehood!

I have never forgiven the Swiss government for what they did to this truly great artist. And I never shall!

Amazing voice, and in my opinion he sounds better than Caruso!
he is singing in italian....and its not "nasal" at all,it is "bel-canto" in its absolute perfection.i adore him,his is my favorite.

Thank(sic) the Nazis and their ignorance and cruelty for the early dermise of this wonderful singer. He might not have been a great operatic stage performer(he was 5' 3")-that might have been a problem, but God his was one of the most beautiful voices ever to sing a note!
