  • BOOO! Bring back Field's and Kaufmann's!

  • I came to Chicago, my husband went to Wrigley and I went to Fields. Now I go to Wrigley with him, it is Chicago. Macy's is not

  • "Target kept the name." That is key. If Macy's put the name back where it belongs and quit claiming Frango Mints are made exclusively for them....AND if they upped the quality of merchandise and service to Marshall Fields' standards, they would show respect and honor for the traditions of a great city. To put the Macy's name on a Chicago landmark is to spit on our very hearts.

  • Marshall Field's was THE quintessential department store. When we shopped "downtown" we meant Marshall Field's. The entire day was spent in the store. It wasn't necessary to go anywhere else. Service was exceptional. The gift boxes were embellished during the holidays to the point where they didn't have to be gift wrapped. Field's carried upscale merchandise. Macy's is garbage with its racks and racks of junk. I could go to KMart for that. Please bring Fields back.

  • Marshall Field's was the most service-oriented store in Chicago. It was wholly unique, not generic, and their staff and I were on a first-name basis. They knew my size and taste, alerted me when new merchandise arrived which they felt I would find desirable; ninety-nine percent of the time they were RIGHT! This has been a terrible loss to Chicago, and to ALL Field's shoppers. I still shopped at Field's both by catalogue and by phone, although I live elsewhere. PLEASE BRING FIELD'S BACK!

  • Marshall Field & Co. was a destination. Macy*s is just a crap emporium. Tables & racks full of junk.

  • So many of the great department stores across the US have been taken over by the behemoth Macys. I REFUSE to shop at Macy's...to me it's just an upscale version of Wal-Mart. I miss the classic dept stores like Marshall Fields and Meier & Frank (Oregon). That's when shopping was fun and classy.

  • My city lost its grand century-old department store when I was a kid because the company went bankrupt, It wasn't the flagship store here that had problems it was another location. Every chain store that has come here pales in comparison to the quality of products and service that store had. Seeing this video made me realise that my city has not been the only loser to store takeovers and owner disputes. I hope Chicago gets its store back. Marshall Field's has my support.

  • Marshall Field's was iconic, uniquely emblematic of and suited to Chicago. Beyond sentiment, Marshall Field's understood Chicagoans and their unique wants and needs and, historically, it provided outstanding merchandise and memorable service to loyal customers. Although Field's has not been owned by the founding family for years, it retained its distincive Chicago-relevant flavor, and was, as a landmark, part of the identity of downtown Chicago loop.

I should love to see Field's return!

  • I love Marshall Field's! Bring back Field's... I have NEVER stepped inside a Macy's since the "conversion." NEVER have, NEVER will.

Buy your holiday presents from anywhere besides Macy's and Bloomingdale's. Nordstrom, Carson's, Von Maur, Neiman Marcus, Lord & Taylor, Saks, Crate & Barrel, Room & Board, Pottery Barn, etc.
