"The Autumn Leaves ~ Les Feuilles Mortes"
from Lisa Ono's 2003 cd entitled, "Dans Mon Ile...On My Island" ... a collection of French songs in Bossa Nova Style. Lisa is an amazing Japanese Bossa artist , and I've previously uploaded a couple of her Brazilian songs here on You Tube. I hope you enjoy this one in celebration of Autumn... Merci!
~~~
Les Feuilles Mortes written by Jacques Prvert with English lyrics later written by Johnny Mercer. A well known, beautiful song by greats such as Edith Piaf, Yves Montand and many more.
The falling leaves
Drift by the window
The autumn leaves
All red and gold
I see your lips
The summer kisses
The sunburned hands
I used to hold.
Since you went away
The days grow long...
And soon I'll hear
Old winter songs
But I miss you most of all
My darling, when autumn leaves start to fall...
C'est un chanson
Qui nous ressemble
Toi qui m'aimais
Et je t'aimais
Nous vivions tous les deux ensemble
Tou qui m'aimais
Moi qui t'aimais
Mais la vie sépare
Ceux qui s'aiment
Tout doucement
Sans faire de bruit
Et la mer efface sur le sable
Les pas des amants désunis.
Since you went away
The days grow long...
And soon I'll hear
Old winter songs
But I miss you most of all
My darling, when autumn leaves start to fall...
  • @drhabibk I'm not sure I can help w/ your questions but you can search popular French musicians from the 1960's to at least bring you closer to your answer... there are many...try "La Vie En Rose" by Edith Piaf...
  • Greetings, Paulita! Interesting how my classical pianist friend Franco filled my morning with the most gorgeous Japanese piano music again, and here you come with Japanese bossa sung in French! Lisa Ono is just phenomenal. And your video a lovely accompaniment -- from the romantic (2:10) to the compelling (2:25) to the organic (2:40) --
    you always manage to make an impact with your superb tastefulness! Wishing you a rum cider kind of cool, crisp Autumn! hugs, ~Terrecita
  • Amazing voice v v
  • My love...I wish you well in Lille...
  • Beautiful song and soft lovely haunting voice of Lisa. The Japanese maple photo by photographer Peter Lik is so appropriate for this timeless classic. Thanks for sharing :)
  • wow!!!- Lisa Ono sings this song beautifully. In grew up listening to this song in its Spanish version -las hojas muertas interpreted by Enrique Guzman and I must have sung this song a thousand times throughout my youth. This is a timeless song that will remain forever. I must admit , It does sound a lot more romantic in French with the voice of a woman like Lisa singing. Agora eu sou sue novo fa pronto para procurar outras cancoes dela em Portugues tambem.
  • Muy buen vídeo. Gracias por compartirlo.
    Salufos y feliz semana.
