Contrary to what RomaneandReflection, who graciously posted this beautiful performance, says, this is NOT "one of her pieces"; Dame Myra Hess is the performer, not the composer. Rather, she plays here a work by Enrique Granados, "The Maiden and the Nightingale", from his suite, ""Goyescas"

This performance is definitive as an example of what Tobias Matthay was trying to get across in his teaching. He deemed Dame Myra as his Empress of Music and her performance here represents the essence of his teaching. Of course her talent aside from the training wasn't exactly "chopped liver."

Thank you for this music! I love it. Have you heard Bill Evans? He orchestrated a jazz piece based on this theme I think. Its called Granadas
