Here we have some footage of an apparent radiation leak at RAF Lakenheath. I am no expert on radiation but there certainly appears to be a reading of somekind. Maybe someone can enlighten us further ?

This is a transcript of the note at the beginning of the film as the quality of the film has deteriorated in the YouTube upload.

"I am a local resident and will be passing this video on to be viewed on the internet. This is to show that we have a big problem at RAF Lakenheath.
However, many US Military personnel are unaware of this including base commanders.

There has undoubtedly been a massive top level military cover up and someone needs to be made accountable.

For this exercise I am using a newly calibrated Plessey PDRM82M dose rate meter.
Normal background ionizing radiation levels on the meter normally read 0.0 to 0.1 centigray per hour.

The Dose Rate Meter readings you will see will be from the base perimeter because obviously as civilians we cannot get on base.

To protect myself, I will ingest some Potassium Iodide that has been isssued to certain US Military personnel in this area of the UK.

It is common knowledge that a serious incident has taken place here and for obvious reasons, many local people avoid the area.

Thank you for your time "

  • ok so what i am wondering is how when you retraced your steps the reading was all of a sudden .6? also what are you doing when you have us watching just the grass turn from yellowish green to dark green and we cant see the meter? i mean you changed te grass color bcause the camera didnt move from that spot. also why did it take you 30-31 seconds to get out of the car from the time u hit park to the time your feet touched ground what were you messing with? i could hear something.

  • I did not make the video gabely142 - so cannot comment. I hadn't really paid attention to the grass colour, but now you mention it, it is interesting how the reading differs over the different coloured patches of grass. maybe just a coincidence. does radiation kill grass ?

  • See a video titled 'Greenham Common Visit by Mark Thomas 2002' on youtube MilitaryClassified.

Mark Thomas of Channel 4 Talks about radioactice soil readings at Greenham Common on it - as provided by US SCcientist.

I remeber watching this on TV.

    All the Best.

  • Interesting video Beazlee. Thanks for that.

  • It took me a while to figure this one out...but I finally got it...

That meter is a high tech "ball detector", since you place it between your legs...unfortunately, it looks like you're a little "shy" in that area, at least that's what the meter shows...

  • That is the automatic setting on the camera causing the changes. It's changing the exposure.

What was the meter set on. So you are picking up between .2 and .6. .2 to .6 of what. This is out of focus...you can't see how you set it. It's kind of silly, but do you understand that there are certain amounts of radiation that is normal no matter where you stand?

    P.S. I am a physicist...don't insult me.

  • is that a plessy pdrm (82?), if so nothing short of a nuke will read on it if properely cal'd. a household ioniser (jml product in this case) was able to send my plessy nuts, tjhough nowt but spurious radio waves from its ht circuit were the cause. so what is it you are holding near it each time we see a reading? (not the uploader the cam man) scaremongering tripe! to the uploader: be responsible and take it down.

  • I'm not too sure why iodine tablets are relevent in this situation - the iodine isotopes have very short half-lives and aren't really applicable to a historic nuclear accident environment.I am wary of the PDRM82 having been "recently calibrated" - I do not think there is anyone out there offering this service, and the self-check service tests the equipment, it does not calibrate. This instrument is intentionally insensitive - I would want to see the same area surveyed by a proper counter.

  • Oo and @DidUAskMeFirst you americans are so full of yourselves, you think that you are so big and powerfull. So why are you building nuklear weapons if you have more trouble then benefits from them (only two nuclear bombs that we know were droped for "military" purposes, millions of them are just siting in warehouses waiting to be disassembled) You are like small children that are playing who has more. We are all living on the same planet, but you are acting like only americans do.

  • Actually the Plessey PDRM82 does have a radioactive source inside used for self calibration Im surprised you got any reading at all TBH with it being cold war technology developed to be distributed to the royal observer corps posts round the country, And well can you really take a reading seriously off this thing most are at least 20 years old and can be had brand new for 14 quid on ebay.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong: I don't think 0.6 REMs is something to get worried about. Not enough to need to wolf down some Potassium Iodate tablets.

  • The warheads in Trident are British though. I'd forgotten about RAF Welford, I thought it was just conventional weapons stored there.

Going slightly off topic, it does seem a bit pointless having all these nukes, seeing as they're never going to be used by anyone in the world, who's got at least some sense.

  • aren't we in england at your invitation? if you're british and you don't want the americans there, why don't you do something about it instead of being passive aggressive on youtube? hrmpf.

  • english russia abandon uranium mines
