23 years ago, my friend, Reverend Russell White, started Eagle Flight as a deal to get a couple of truants back in school one day. Since then, Eagle Flight has put over 3,000 kids at the controls of an airplane, and currently has over 400 of its graduates working in the aviation industry. When I visited with The Rev, Eagle Flight had just moved into an old three-story firehouse donated by the East Orange, New Jersey, Fire Department that they'd remodeled into their clubhouse.

East Orange donated the firehouse that is also in East Orange, NOT in Newark and NOT BY Newark! The firehouse is the former ENGINE-4 / TRUCK-3 quarters located on Springdale Ave. in EAST ORANGE !
