My husband is an 1LT and he never gets to go on missions as a platoon leader. On a rare occasion that they are short handed he can volunteer to go. (Usually just the holiday missions)

@TheXxxprayerxxx Yes, the commissioned Lieutenant is a Platoon leader in the United States Military. Commissioned officers are Lt, Capt, Maj, Lt. Cols, Colonel, BGen, MGen, LTGen, and last General (4 stars) are the leaders of the military as I like to call it "The Brains of the Military'. They ARE in charged of leading, planning, and executing missions on a daily basis.
