I attended the 124th Fete des Louches in Comines (small town on the French and Belgian border, north of Lille) on October 12th, 2008, to witness the 'cortege' (parade) and 'jeter des louches' (throwing of the spoons). It's a crazy festival with historical origins, involving a duke throwing wooden cutlery down to effect his rescue. This vid is a partner to my blog with more pictures - see http://alternika.wordpress.com/2008/10/13/ladles-comines-fete-des-louches/
Do yourself a favour: watch the high quality version! You can't see the ladles in the poor quality version.
