The Calva Bridge is due to collapse at any moment due to the floods in Cockermouth.This graphic was used on the ITV Border/Tyne Tees evening news to explain how the bridge would collapse due to the floods.

I wonder about that.
Calva Bridge is a wonderful bit of Victorian Engineering, having been built in 1841, over 60 years earlier than the collapsed Northside bridge.
The Ribblehead Viaduct from the same era is another delightful piece of work, and praise has to be given to the builders of the 19th Century.
On Thursday 07/01/10 I ran over the Workington Bridge undetered by the barriers and deem it safe enough to be reopened to pedestrians.
Both bridges I've mentioned here are Grade 2 listed.
