@NewThoughtSantafFe Kip is playing what is referred to as "top end" style. It started in Northern Ireland probably 15 or 20 years ago. The newer drums were being made smaller with more flexible, thinner skins -- so could provide more than just a straight backing rhythm. The drummers wanted to contribute more to the music. I love all styles of playing, and am trying to master the top end stuff. It ain't easy. Kip is an amazing bodhran player, but I love Ringo McDonagh's playing just as much.

Can somebody comment for me on this STYLE, what you would call it? I am a new person to the Bodhran and this looks different from the Kerry style....Would love to hear someone talk about it a little...
