  • Do you know if there's a way to use the imac as monitor for regular cable or satellite tv?

  • I Don't Think So, Because The Only Way To Use Mini DisplayPort Would Be To Use The Atlona Box, Except The iMac Has A Higher Resolution Than The Atlona Box Can Handle iMac Resolution Is 2560 X 1440, and The Atlona Box Can Only Handle 1920 X 1200. I Think You Have To Wait For Atlona To Make A More Powerful box

  • The lack of crispness is because the MacBook Pro has a resolution of 1920x1200 which is a 16:10 aspect ratio while your new iMac has a resolution of 2560x1440 which is a contrast ratio of 16:9. The difference in contrast ratios accounts for the slight difference in the target display mode.

  • Yeah, I am pretty sure they will discontinue the 24" LED soon anyway. I am not very impressed with it. I am waiting for the 27" LED cinema display.

  • Loving your videos man.

  • Thanks man

  • @blista77 hey does this work with non mac laptops such as a dell computer.

  • Fuck that ill use tha MacBook as a external monitor

  • ever since I saw the ATI video brand used in a nintendo game cube, and having ATI brand graphics card in my PC I have liked the way ATI looks compared to Nvidia...

  • I have a mac mini with the mini display port and have thought about doing a dual screen but your video filled that need, thank you.. I have done dual screen on my windows PC but not on my mac mini yet..

  • The different aspect ratio on that MBP really shouldn't affect image quality on the 27" screen unless you mirrored the MBP's screen in which case it would be the wrong resolution anyway. And the inferior GPU itself shouldn't affect image quality either, maybe if it had faulty output circuitry.

  • do you actually know the difference between a contrast ratio and an aspect ratio?

  • I don't know why apple did this target display mode I can see the benefits but really it's already a computer.

  • thanks!

  • This requires additional software/hardware such as the TubeStick Hybrid or EyeTV but yes, you can watch TV on the iMac.
