@burgerbird67 The greatest pilot to have ever lived. Highly decorated WWII vet. Shot down 5 Germans in one day. Piloted a P-51 Mustang so well he kept up with the Messerschmitt Me-262 jet successfully shooting one down. First to break the sound barrier on Oct. 14, 1947. Commandant of the Air Force Aerospace program. Brigadier General United States Air Force. An American.
You, son, are the fucking joke. Yeager stands for everything that is great about the United States of America.
Fuck you.

@burgerbird67 You little fuck stick. If I knew where you lived, I would kill you.

@burgerbird67 Just because you've set foot inside of a classroom for ridiculous amounts of money doesn't mean your gonna be better behind the stick of an aircraft than some kid just off the farm. And he is the most celebrated because he's the most celebrateable person. That man has done so much shit, broken so many records, and you think that because he has no college degree none of that matters? Christ! You should probably think about college for yourself, you might learn a thing or two.

At that time military flight test didn't overly give a shit about degrees, they cared mostly about ability in those days and it was only in subsequent years that flight test demanded the high academia when the state of the art progressed. Chuck earned his spot on the X-1 advanced testing program because he was there, he had the ability, the experience and the dedication to duty that it took to get the data that the Air Force needed. Luck and friends higher up didn't hurt, though!

he sat next to me that day!

@burgerbird 67 actually, negros also sat in P-51 mustangs and got to shoot a germans, it probably seems very unfair to your college educated ass not ever achieving anything or given a chance right? i my self have three degrees from three universities and did very well.

@burgerbird67 the only joke is your very existence. Proves beyong a doubt there's no "god" as he'd never bother creating a low-life like you.

@burgerbird67 he's not a joke at all. the method of choosing pilots was much different back then. Chuck is the most honest man i've ever heard of. he has explained countless times how he got to fly. read his super excellent book 'Yeager: An Autobiography".One of the greatest books i've ever read, maybe the greatest. he is truly a great man, an honest man,and he has more personal integrity and professional dedication than any other person i've ever heard of. please read his book.he is very honest
Yeah - it was amazing to be there and make this video. I walked up to him afterwords, and as he was sitting in the golf cart - I told him it would be an honor to shake his hand - and he did. Just an incredible honor to shake his hand!
