Dreyer's work STAGGERED the WORLD.

@dohyou P. Adams Sitney, the best critic of avant-garde/experimental film in the U.S. called Dreyers career the single greatest creative achievement in cinema history.
Stan Brakhage ( a great filmmaker) called Vampyr one of the funniest films in history-this rung something deep in me that had always troubled me about the film--its Ed Wood like camp horror feel in parts! When one understands the link between humour and fear then you realise this film is something else, so knowing!

One of the few truly creative CINEMATIC sountdtracks in film history too

Yeah, that's right !! To think these idiot critics of old dubbed him "the gloomy Dane" etc for all his career. 'Vampyr' is as radical as narrative gets, a breathtaking 'experiment' in viewer/camera objectivity/subjectivity, scary as hell AND funny as hell---how does he do that??!! revolutionary.

A true cinema original. Thanks for sharing it (though it's more accurate to say David Lynch is "Dreyer like":)))
