What happens when we die? This is usually a subject that most people don't want to deal with. It's interesting however that everyone is portrayed as always "going to the same place". Join us for this study
If you are going to quote the Bible what really counts is what is written after the death of the testator J.C. Jesus clearly says that if you believe and obey Him you will never die -- nonbelievers may die but not believers. We are also triune beings -- a body (that is corruptible) a soul (which is the contents of your mind and heart while here on Earth) and a spirit (which is the real you). The Bible says that it is the spirit in man that KNOWS (consciouness) the things about man -- opinions?
@isaacthom34 Also in the new Testament "soul" is translated from the Greek word psuche. Psuche occurs 105 times but is translated as "soul" only 58 times. It is translated "life" or "lives" 40 times. Other times it is translated "mind", "heart", "Us", and "You". I have the verses that go with these translations if needed.
Jesus did not go to Paradise after He died on the Cross. John 20:17 What He meant was the next time the thief opens his eyes will be during the Second Coming.
@isaacthom34 In the Old Testament, the word "soul" is translated from the Hebrew, nephesh, with two exceptions. Nephesh occurs 755 times and is translated "soul" 473 times, "life" or "lives" 120 times, "person" 30 times, "mind" 16 times, "heart" 15 times, "body" or "dead body" 13 times, "creature" 9, "will" 4, "appetite" 2, "lust" 2, "thing" 2, All and all 43 different ways. We have the wrong idea about what a "soul" is. No where is it said to be "immortal" or goes anywhere without our body.
I think the reason people take issue with Doug is not about his views on the resurrection of the body, the question is: what happens to our spirit/soul when we die? After all, didn't Jesus say on the cross to the thief, "Today, you will be with Me in Paradise."--Clearly, the man's body wasn't going to be there--1 Corinthians 15:50 says, "Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God." So the central issue here is whether our soul goes to be with God immediately at death?
did christ not say marvel not for the hour is coming when all who are in the graves will hear his voice and come forth? has it happened yet? hello Gin
I hope this could clarified your thoughts in some way; if you truly beleve in our Lord you know that every Word the apostles and the prophets wrote were inspired in the holy spirit of Jesus so in fact is the Lord the author of every book in the bible.

For everyone who is bashing Doug, perhaps you should read the following passages of Scripture which SUPPORT what he is saying:
John 5:28-29
1 Corinthians 15:35-55
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
