What causes global poverty? Why do countries in the northern hemisphere enjoy so much wealth while over a billion people in the southern hemisphere live in slums on less than a dollar a day, where one person (usually a child under 5) dies of starvation every 3.6 seconds? Many would say that these are questions too complicated to be answered, like trying to figure out why bad things happen in the world. It could be lack of education, lack of infrastructure, government corruption, disease, war, or any number of factors in any number of combinations. But in the documentary THE END OF POVERTY, the cause of global poverty is made quite clear: it's US, meaning the countries of the northern hemisphere, which have been extracting wealth from the southern hemisphere for centuries. Or, as one expert puts it, they are poor because we are rich.

  • Hey jsjkim, you should review some of John Pilger's documentaries, I think you'd enjoy them.

  • this is sooo sad. what the human cost or the price on the planet.

  • I actually saw it at Village Cinemas.

  • think before making dumb comments.

  • Instead of the land of the free, and the home of the brave, why don't we all just become communists... RIGHT? Then everything would be just HUNKY-DORY... Freedom is already disappearing at a frightening speed.

  • Looks like a bunch of moocher agitprop to me.

  • yeah, you're right, the climate never changes, never has, the ice age was a hoax, so are hurricanes and the rising ocean levels. someone probably just started the idea on a youtube comment section and we idiots read it and believed it
