Wendy Fang, former professional athlete and successful businesswoman, saved an abandoned baby in her hometown of Shanghai.

She eventually adopted the child (named 'Shanghai'), but the process was not an easy one. After she adopted Shanghai, and she, and her family, raised the daughter for over seven years, Wendy was denied to opportunity to raise her daughter in the United States.

Never mind that she has dual citizenship, would not be able to financially support her daughter by returning to China, and never mind that the department of immigration approved Shanghai's visiting visa, because of rushed and sloppy work at the American Consulate in Guangzhou, she was denied the right to bring her daughter to the United States.

They require her to give up her job in the United States, return to China, and live for two years. It doesn't matter that her family supported the girl for seven years.

In the meantime, our congressmen, and women, want her to campaign for the Federal Adopted Children's Act (H.R. 3110), which would make it legal for immigrant parents to bring their adopted children into the United States. That's all well and good, but by the time this bill becomes a law, Wendy may be separated from her daughter permanently!

Her father is over eighty years old. If he is unable to continue raising Shanghai, Shanghai will be sent to an orphanage. Time is not on her side.

This is not some celebrity adoption. I interviewed Wendy Fang concerning the intricate details of her case. We also discuss the 'one child per family' law in China that put the infant's life in jeopardy.

If there are any lawyers, or anyone else out there who might be able to help this woman, feel free to send a message via this YouTube site. Thanks for watching.
