Well this is a video about my project car a 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe. I haven't done any video on it because I haven't really been working on it. I used it as a daily driver for 2 years but kept having problem with it. Also had 2 piston rings fail on the # 5 cylinder so now I need a new block. Wish I knew why the engine failed on me only had 2000 miles on it after the rebuild. I hope to get it running again soon!

  • love the video, a real guy doing real work, very cool, and you seem to like what you are doing and know quite a bit about it, and you are honest and say you don't know when you don't know, good job man

  • @muszyngr Thanks for your kind comment. I have enough saved up now for a new short block and plan on building it up and dropping in this spring/summer. I just haven't figure out if I want to go 302 or 331 stroker.

  • @SaveOldSchoolMuscle 331! any updates ?

  • @lancer7610 Just upload a new video " My 1966 Mustang #2: Front Suspension Teardown "

  • thanks i am been waiting for this video :D your mustang is much better shape than i expected.

  • Thanks for saying so I put a lot of wrench time into it but it still need lots of work. I think am going to work on suspension, steering, and brakes while the engine is out the car. The after market disc brakes system I was taking about at the end of the video is Stainless Steel Brakes A120P. It includes everything I need but its going some thing like $1100 after shipping! I may also need new wheels to make it fit.

  • just thought i'd throw it out there that the shock towers can be easily replaced with new ones that give maximum clearance. k*

  • NICE VIDEO BRO!!!

  • interesting video and it looks like a very fun project, it there any signs of rust or anything like that? anything that would show this car's age?

  • hey man you seen like you know what you are doing i just bought a 67 mustang i the engine was rebuilt 6 years ago but i am not sure of it and it was never finshed being hook up i know i lil bit about engine but i am no genius so can u tell me a few of the thing i am going to need to do to get it runing you can send me a personal message to if u want

  • If you have the money go with the SS brakes, but I went with a Granada front brake setup and Explorer rear brakes and that wasn't cheap. And again if you have the money I would go with a 331 don't go 347, can that block be bored or is it all done. I went with a 351w and as you said I had to do some work to the towers for clearance.. You want to get rid of the single master and convert to a divided master for safety.

  • I would guess that who ever built the engine didn't check piston ring end gap. If the gap is too big you will get more blow by, if the gap is to tight you will break rings or crack piston ring lands or both. That is what it looks like to me.

    Bob.

  • You should do a 331 stroker, and dress it like a 289HiPo, that would look sweet!
