Furby may look a bit battered and bruised - he's had a bit of a hard time... but he still knows how to rock. With one eye, one ear and severly burnt fur, he does a fairly good job.

What Furby plays is controlled by a step sequencer I made in Max/MSP which is running inside a monophonic synthesiser patch I wrote a while back. There is a sequencer for Furby and a sequencer for the synth. Furby is connected to Max/MSP via serial connection interfaced with Arduino (which controls the tone generation). He plays a simple 50% duty cycle square wave, I modified the tone() Arduino sketch to let furby make noise. The and stuff mouth would move too, but I can't find the other half of the battery pack for it! Entire songs could be played by Furby, harmonising with the synth playing on the main speakers since the note pattern data is held on the computer, not the microcontroller. The microcontroller is passed the note frequencies as they are generated on the serial port. Apologies for my shoddy camera / shoddy camera skillzzz.
