all credit for this upload goes to VintageVoices (whose account has since been taken down)

i think it is injustice that someone who uploads good quality videos gets taken down due to matching third party content yet all the horribly distorted VHS rips and otherwise remain (possibly due to the fact that no analyzer can recognize them through all of the distortion)

regardless; enjoy... this is one of my favorite vocal performances of all time

  • I always feel so sad when the camera looks up at her. You can see the sadness and fear. This is one of my favorite performances by her and the quality is amazing. I just love Judy's voice and her ability to pour her emotion into a song. A brilliant talent indeed.

  • it's like she's electrified. why isn't everyone on their feet giving her a standing O at the end!

  • In this song she seems to go beyond even her own capacity for conveying emotion, as if she's chanelling something other-wordly. It's like the song's been waiting for her to sing it and will never need to be sung again.

  • When she sang "I get weary, sick of trying, I'm tired of living, but scared of dying" It gave me goosebumps. It's like when she sang that she was screaming it to us, through song. It was a shame she passed. I would've liked to here more singers sing this kind of music growing up today, but I'm afraid that not many have the power and emotion to put it into songs from back then like they did.

  • I was just five years old when Ms. Garland passed on and I live in the Philippines. I should have no connection at all to her. Yet when she sings, I feel as if she were personally telling me a story--a tale made compelling because of this woman's scintillating interpretation. What a wonderful human being for sharing her talent so unselfishly.

  • Sinatra includes the verse to great effect, however Judy's rendition is by far the most telling. Ty for the post!

  • Judy you are perfect!

  • You can feel her feeling every second of this song..I have chills running through me right now.

  • That was really damn good..!! Judy really gave a tear jerking performance.. I'm still a little shaken

  • shes too good

  • This is the reason Judy Garland is one of my all time favorite singers....
