This is an old converted bread box made into a crystal set I built in 2004 with many changes and modifications along the way. This set has AM and shortwave bands. The sw coils are the little ferrite ones obove the main tuning capacitor they can tune from 1700 khz to 16000 khz. The crystal detector is an old electric guitar tuning knob with guitar string cat wisker The big coil is the AM coil with internal variable ferrite coil slider for better selectivity.great for dxing.

  • Hi folks A new update on my radio rebuild It still uses the same breadbox with a new faceplate with a 30s 40s style tuning dial and three new coil racks made of Purple Heart wood and an additional twin vacuum tube regerative AM SW for those weak pirate signals and number broadcasts. Check out my 2 part Breadbox Crystal Radio build.

  • Hi patchcords glad you like my crystal radio. Today the radio is dismantled I am making a new wooden faceplate with a colored tuning dial and will also add a 2 vacuum tube regenerative alongside the crysta radio circuits so I can tune in to shortwave pirate stations. The radio is run through a powerful JCM900 Marshall the cadiilac of crystal radio amps and guitars too.and a smaller Fender amp too. I will be making a video of my new radio in the near future.
