India

India is not only a country, it´s a whole continent! India is a multiculture nation with a very old history. For about 4 000 years ago there was a mighty Indus-Empire (todays Pakistan) but the aryans come (about 1500 BC) from the northwest and invaded north-India. Nobody knows where they comes from originally but my guess is: south-Russia and Kazakhstan...or Sweden!!??

The aryans founded the religion Hinduism and also the cast-system. They also took the language: Sanskrit to north-India (from wich the european languages comes!). In south-India most people talk another language called Dravid-language. People in north-India look caucasian because they descend from aryans while people in the south look more like asians (darker skinn for an example).

India has the second largest population in the world...over 1,1 billion citizens! If we should count all citizens in the old British-India (with Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka), it´s over 1,4 billions...more than in China (1,3 billions)!! India is the worlds largest democracy.

India is like a young and hungry tiger!!

Indias economy is the forth largest in the world (in purchasing power) and it had the third strongest military defence. Indias GDP has one of the highest growths in the world...6-7 % per year (normaly). The country has a very little export and import trade because they are selfsuported in many needs. India is biggest in the world in producing tea!

India produce most films in the world... in Boolywood, pic on the beautiful moviestar: Aishwarya Rai, and on...Leslie Tripathy - a famous actress from Orissa (last pic)! She has done a tremendous work for the culture in Orissa...she has act in 3 movies and in 240!!! music-videos!! She is very talented and is also involved in social projects there in Orissa, in order to help poor people. She surely walks in Mahatma Gandhis footsteps!

I believe that Leslie wants to be a good leader for Indias young generation...that both feel a deep respect for old traditions but also wants to develop the country into a modern welfare-state (like Sweden?). We here in Sweden wish this strong willed woman...GOOD LUCK in her struggle!!
