Here's the trio of "Rain on the Roof," "Ah, Paris," and "Broadway Baby." This one is trickier, but ultimately works, I think.

There is no footage of "Rain on the Roof," so you have to listen to the song with no video for about 30 seconds. (You can see a little bit of the Whitmans and what they looked like doing the song, at the end of the trio.) Then there is some very brief footage of Solange's song, which I haven't really tried to synch to audio, and I use the same footage over and over. It gives you a kind of sense of how the song looked. Then I have pieced together Hattie's song, using brief silent footage plus the LA rehearsal footage, which has its own audio. This comes together beautifully, but you have to be patient.

  • I was so lucky to be a teen in Mary McCartys class at HB Studio. I saw FOLLIES many times. This is so special and no production has ever matched it for me. It was magic. Thank you so much for posting this!!

  • What a tribute!!! Thanks for posting!!

  • The current revival felt so lacking during the 3 numbers in DC when they were seperate, sans-montage, but when it transferred to New York and the montage was reinstated, the crowd went wild. What an experience! Thanks so much for posting the original!

  • The night I took my parents to see "Follies," describing to them this wonderful old trouper who had been an original Follies girl, Ethel Shuttay made her entrance completely tanked; she got as far as staggering through her opening line, "Mr. Stone you sure know how to make a woman feel real good." My mom whispered, "She's drunk!" John McMartin's eyes pratically popped out of his head. She was promptly but gently escorted stage left and was never seen again for the rest of the show.

  • fledee, I don't know who you are, but you just got into my will.

  • Ethel Shutta was such an old time pro!

  • Great to see these old pros!

  • And the crowd goes wild!

  • A thousand thanks! Irreplaceable!

  • Thank you so much for updating all this amazing footage! You don't happen to have the mirror number do you?
