Iori Yagami (八神 庵, Yagami Iori) is a video game character who made his first appearance in the Neo Geo fighting game, The King of Fighters '95. He is a central recurring character and the initial enemy (and eventual rival) of Kyo Kusanagi.

Gai Tendo (天童 凱, Tendo Gai) is a character from SNK's Buriki One. He is the protagonist of the game and appeared in several games outside his main series. His design was ment to mirror Mixed Martial Artists and his design was probably based on real life fighter, Caol Uno. He's also based on manga character Baki Hanma from Baki the Grappler.

Vanessa (ヴァネッサ, Vanessa) is a character who first debuted as a Striker in The King of Fighters '99 Evolution. She becomes playable in The King of Fighters 2000 as a member of the Hero Team. She is the first boxing female of the series and one of the first females to use this style in fighting games. Like Maxima, she was created as a middle-aged female to contrast the multiple teenage characters in the roster. Developers also mention their intentions to make her playable in The King of Fighters '99 though this didn't happen due to time constraints.

Billy Kane (ビリー・カーン, Birī Kān) is a character in both the Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters series. His family name, Kane, is meant to be pronounced like "Kon" or "Kaan" with a silent "e" (as in James Caan, an American actor), rather than the word "cane". He fights with a three sectional staff that he somehow can ignite with fire and can be split into three parts connected with a chain. He always tries to look out for his little sister Lilly Kane.

Eiji Kisaragi (如月 影二, Kisaragi Eiji) is a character in both the Art of Fighting and The King of Fighters series. He is the descendent of Zantetsu from The Last Blade series of fighting games. SNK illustrator, Shiroi Eiji, takes his namesake from the white palette of Eiji in Art of Fighting 2.

K9999 (pronounced K Four-Nine) is a video game character in The King of Fighters series who debuts as a member of the NESTS team in The King of Fighters 2001. His character design is heavily inspired by the character Tetsuo Shima from the 1988 animated film Akira. His name is a homage to a character in the anime, Armored Trooper Votoms. He was believed to be copyrighted by Eolith though SNK has expressed public disfavor for K9999 -presumably due to the explicitness of his tribute- and it is unlikely he will appear in the future.
