Newly formed lake due to land slide in Hunza!

Dabri has completely blocked the Hunza River . More than two kilometers of the gorge through which the river once flowed is now filled with sand and rocks over, turning the river into an expanding lake, posing great risk to the low-lying villages of Gojal Valley and lower villages of central Hunza nomal n all villages beside Indus river.

the lake will bring ecological changes more rains, migratory brids, fish in the lake, more water resorviors on the other hand big risk if the barrier is not resistant might flood the lower hunza area. could anyone comment if there is any risk assesment?

It is reported that in case of a sudden outburst of water from the lake formed on Hunza River, it would affect 500,000 people from Hunza to Terbela. In addition it would have reverse effects on Gilgit, Ghizer and Skardu River, which may cause sever damages in those areas.

@drkashifg Well I doubt there can be any vegetation. The peaks look so barren and dry that any sort of plantation doesn't seem applicable. Just having a wild guess, not an expert opinion.

Thank you for the Breath Taking Views,Pakistan should pay attention fast to this lake,Or call in a seperate Appeal to ask China to come in and help,As i understand that the Flow of Aid is Suffering from other parts of the world due to non existence of Roads and Bridges,11 kilometers of water would be a great asset to Pakistan in general and World comunity in particuler,huge amounts of Coverings are done all over the world to Protect Glaciers,Now PAKISTAN Needs Help.WAKE UP WORLD,please help

have been to the five villages of CHILLAS for the intallation of GSM antennas.. and between these mountain on every step i felt death... but now i think i should have taken my job as an adventure... feeling very sorry about the people though.. being homeless people is the worst thing . i wonder if this new lake will effect the construction of BAHASHA DAM?

I wish some kind of control mechanism could be created. Off course by taking into confidence the affected people. This could have been a readily available reservoir.

Inshallaha nothing will happen, Geo is anti Pakistan and spread panic in country, so brothers don't worry, its a huge mountain which has fallen in between mountains, and inshallah all the stored water will be drained easily, there are lots of big stones and solid rocks in this fallen mountain which is not possible to removed by this much water, so just wait inshallah it will be fine soon

Why cant they layout some pipe to siphon off the water across the blocked portion while they dig ? why not carve some small stream while they make a big channel ? An IMMEDIATE short term solution is needed with a long term solution ?

ppl.,we got a natural made reservoir.. wat else we need..it is water ..that we need so much in our country..i mean our rives are getting drier day by day because of the water leaking from India..now save this water its Govt responsibility.if they do it with planning they can use this water and take advantages.
