Forbidden - Chalice of Blood

One of the best thrash bands ever, Forbidden. From their debut album "Forbidden Evil". These should've been as big as Testament, Anthrax and Megadeth back in the 80's, but sadly they weren't. This is some badass shit, so bang your head as long as the song lasts! They recently reformed, so I sure hope they stay as good as this!

Forbidden is a thrash metal band from the San Francisco Bay Area, part of the Bay Area thrash scene, most popular in the late 1980s and the early 1990s. Their style is technical thrash metal, with sophisticated riffs and guitar solos (similar to Megadeth on Rust in Peace), and later with alternative elements (Green album).

Forbidden was originally known as Forbidden Evil, under which name they recorded several demo tapes. The band's name was changed to simply Forbidden though to prevent the band from being stereotyped as a black metal band. Forbidden Evil is also the name of their first official album, which was released in 1988. The line-up (until 1989) was Russ Anderson (vocals), Craig Locicero and Glen Alvelais (guitars), Matt Camacho (bass) and Paul Bostaph (drums).

On October 5, 2007, Blabbermouth.net reported that Forbidden has reformed again for some reunion shows in 2008 both in the US and in Europe - said to be confirmed for some summer festivals. The reunion will not feature the either the Forbidden Evil line-up or the one with Jacobs. Gene Hoglan (of Dark Angel, Death and Strapping Young Lad fame) will drum for the band instead, due to Bostaph's prior commitments with Testament, who have been in the studio working on a new album. There has been no word on whether Tim Calvert will be involved.

Forbidden Evil is the debut album from San Francisco, California thrash metal band, Forbidden.

It features future Slayer drummer, Paul Bostaph, and also some of the songs were co-written by Robb Flynn who later played with Machine Head -- although he did not play on this recording.

This album was followed up by Twisted Into Form in 1990.

The title track was covered by Temple of Blood on their 2008 release Overlord.
