  • Even under the Tridentine Rite of pre-Vatican II, the Roman Church did allow for hymns and certain customs of local/regional/national peoples. The Latin Rite is rich much like the Divine Liturgy of the Eastern Churches. Benedict is an advocate to restore it. The Liturgy of John Chrysostom prevails in the East, but allows for the same, such as the use of Greek, Russian, etc. (It is not the only Liturgy there). It is more ancient and truly "heart shattering" of this form of worship, yes!

  • @LiturgicalChants: This sounds to my ears like God of Our Fathers, an old Episcopalian hymn. So these Episcopal ministers becoming priests might appreciate it, even if you don't. The Divine Liturgy is a thing of heart shattering beauty, I attend a Byzantine Church about every Sunday just to hear it. Your attitude does not do it honor.

  • very corny music for an ordinariate! we hope the rest was more majestic, beautiful cathedral of course, but I must say certain qualities there don't look nearly as appealing as being part of a western rite orthodox church, at least there you get the heavenly liturgy you deserve.

  • Hi James

What hymn can be heard in the background?
