A tribute to two of the founding fathers of community economic development in the United States: Senator Jacob Javits from New York and Robert Brandwein from Boston, MA. Senator Javits was an early sponsor, along with Senator Robert Kennedy, of legislation that promoted community economic development programs, especially the public-private partnerships that grew to become community development corporations (CDCs). Robert Brandwein was an early pioneer who helped CDCs secure financing and establish programs to create jobs across the country.
