it is really by weight, but if your a beginner and short but heavy you would be better off going by this method. it is the best way to figure out what size board you'll want to use and have the most fun on. so yeah, she's right!!!!

She throws out a disclaimer at the end. Would have been nice to know this in the beginning. This would be helpful for someone who lives nowhere near a mountain.

gerasquad is right.
correct snowboard length is determined by weight, not by height. chin to nose is just generally close enough for average weight people.
i like that REI is trying to put educational videos out, but ive seen a few others and they are rife with inaccuracies. i think REI should address this before they get a bad rap.
