I never knew what it was like to live under a totalitarian regime until I joined the thought police controlled Freerepublic where people are banned (cyber executed) for not towing the party line and any dissent from fellow conservatives (and I am not talking about the Ron Paul types) is cause for banning them. I think Freerepublic caused many untold number of people who identified with the right/GOP to leave the party and go Dem or independent from the way they were treated there.
