@TKKiid I think it is an old wives saying that lavender connects to death, i.e if you smell it the dead are visiting you. It was probably a medieval ointment for the dying or something.

Went there early - mid 1990's on their ghost night stays. This was in the mid 1990's as when this TV series "Strange but true" was filmed. I was there when they filmed it , and the guy who seen the monk (yeh right), was my then best mate. I never seen any ghost or apparition ever at this place. They took your money (£30) a night in 1996 !. I refused to be filmed on this TV programme because of it. One big scam. Funny its been closed to the public for years.
