Luisa had a closed rhinoplasty procedure to correct her narrow internal nasal valve, deviated septum and remove the hump on her nose. This is the footage from her surgery.

Enter the operating room as Rhinoplasty Specialist Dr. Paul Nassif Performs a rim graft with the finishing touches.

The alar rim graft is placed in the pocket and extends the entire length of the alar to the region of the soft tissue triangle. Customizing the appearance of the medial end of the alar rim graft is often necessary to balance the alar rim. When the skin flap is redraped, the alar rim graft needs to be pulled down into the correct position under the alar rim. If a closed approach is used, alar rim grafts may be placed via a rim incision and sutured to the vestibular tissue with 5-0 chromic or slid into a small pocket via a small rim incision after careful sharp dissection is performed through the alar rim.

When your surgeon has finished reshaping the structures within your nose, he or she will redrape the skin over the new framework. If your nose has been reduced in size, your skin will contract to fit the size of the new framework. In general, it isn't necessary to remove any skin during rhinoplasty. If cartilage grafts were added, the skin will likely be
redraped over soft-tissue grafts to prevent the cartilage from becoming visible in the future.

Luisa's before and after photos reveal a softer nasal appearance. She has also experienced improvement in breathing.

Closed rhinoplasty involves incisions which are confined to the inside of the nose. Though this results in no visible scarring, the procedure offers less visibility of the inside of the nose and is typically not possible for more complex cases. Hump reduction, on the other hand, can be performed with closed rhinoplasty.
