David Osborne performs his version of The Logical Song transposed for piano. "The Logical Song" is a hit single on Supertramp's 1979 album Breakfast in America and written and sung by band member Roger Hodgson. It is one of the band's most recognized songs.

  • You do this by ear? The only reason I ask is because you play with such uninterupted soul.

  • @ryip20 First of all, thank you for your comment! I started off at the age of 4 playing by ear, for this particular song I got the sheets and made it my own. I can play by ear very well but I wanted the "right" chord progressions. Thank you for taking an interest in my passion!

  • David's the best. I have several of his CDs.

  • @michaeld5 Thank You!

  • Stunning, all of your songs are beautiful. Please, never stop covering songs and posting them. You are one of the most talented musicians I've come across & as a musician "by ear" myself, I really respect your style. Amazing!!!!

  • You have no I idea what your talking about! This is a perfect performance, can you direct us to your performances? Get lost!

  • Interesting but the third chord is G minor and not major.

  • Actually, the chord is correct, I just checked it out. I don't understand why "pipe smoking" armchair experts like to knock a world class talent! User they can't play at all!

  • It's great and I teach piano. He is flawless this way ! Stop being so critical. The man is tops!

  • @Antoinenort It's not only your opinion! :) I was surprised to hear it played this way and I don't think changing the chord gives a "better instrumental feel". I was about to write the same when I read your comment :) . . .

  • Very nice, David, U play very much .... congratulations !

  • i can haz sheets?

  • fantastic!

  • @Antoinenort I think he played it like that because the GM7 gives it a different, and perhaps better for an instrumental feel. I would've played the Gm7 if I would've been accompanied by a vocalist, but the GM7 sounds great on this beautiful instrumental version.

  • Hello ! I'm a french musician fan of Supertramp. Sorry for my approximative english.

Congratulation for this interpretation of the song. I find all very well, except one little think : on the third chord of the song, you played a GM7 instead of a Gm7. This changes a little the spirit of the song. But this is only my opinion.

Keep playing Supertramp ! Do you know "fools overture" ? Perhap's a good project...
