This deserves to be watched in all its graphical glory!

My computer (check my profile page for specs) running the Devil May Cry 4 Performance Test on max settings, 2x anti-aliasing, and 1680x1050 resolution. The D rank given at the end apparently does not take into account the settings used and is based purely on average FPS. Without FRAPS limiting the FPS to 30, I would get a B (and a ridiculous message that I'd still need to upgrade!) with a FPS range of 40-80.

DMC4 is definitely one of 2008's sleeper hits. I was never a fan of the franchise until this game was released on the PC in July 2008 (the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions were released in January to February). Upon playing, I was stunned by the graphics, cut scenes, and "stylish" gameplay. It turns out that DMC4 uses Capcom's MT Framework engine, which was also used in Dead Rising and Lost Planet (videos of Lost Planet to come soon!). This engine is probably the most graphically advanced and efficient game engine to date. The environments are large and detailed, lighting is breathtaking, fluid animation makes the characters come to life, and the cut scenes look like rendered clips from Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children (no, I haven't seen the movie yet...)! Take that, Crysis! The story in DMC4 is somewhat predictable and shallow, but the characters and their actions, and all the varied enemies and bosses really make up for it.

Capcom has certainly outdone themselves, especially since they decided to release the game on the Xbox AND PC! Compared to Capcom, Konami is being a bitch for keeping Metal Gear Solid 4 a PS3 exclusive, since it is DEADLY obvious that MGS4 CAN run on higher end PCs no matter what Kojima says! A truely awesome game engine should be able to provide plenty of eye candy while being able to run efficiently on a wide range of hardware.

  • Hmm. So do I need a good video graphics card in order to run DMC 4 smoothly? Because I have the game and when I installed it into my computer it runs very slow. Especially during the gameplay. It's like playing in slo motion. o.o

  • Having a recent computer helps. And no integrated graphics crap. You can try lowering the settings too. You didn't even mention your computer specs lol.

  • Performance Test ues DV plz...

  • What are you trying to say? LOL

  • sigh i can't play it with 32 bit, directx 9.0

    I need 64 bit, directx 10

  • Not true. I was running the game on Windows XP 32-bit with DirectX 9.0. You just need a somewhat recent PC (with a decent video card; no integrated crap).

  • everything on super high and AA at C8xQ on nvidia gforce gt 230m i get 60-100 fps o;

  • Lucky i get less than half that on my pentium dual core

  • @95928225 For the average computer this game is almost impossible to run

  • This game is so light to play.Capcom makes good ports for pc.I have ati radeon hd 4670 1GB AMD Quad core direcxt 10 and play it at super high AAX4 1360x768 resolution and still make 80fps XD

  • my fps only goes up to 10 or lower

  • how do i get mine to not lag all my stats are good but my gaming graphics are 3.0 if they get better will the game go faster

  • Aw, I just ran this on my computer and I only got an A because test 2 averaged 59 fps. I was running 1920x1080, 8x aa, and maxed other settings. Running a phenom x4 and a ATI HD 4850. Test 3 and 1 averaged over 90 fps though.

  • 7:25 lol Poor Nero he is like OMG GET LOST!!!

  • well, do you have pci-e slot? search it it up in google images, then open your pc and identify it. if you do, you can buy a 4670 and 2gb of ddr2 ram and run this game no problem.

  • Nevermind. I just figured it out I think.

    Emachines

    W3102

    AMD Sempron(tm) Processor

    3100+

1.81 GHz, 384 MB of RAM

    Physical Address Extension

Most likely I probably can't do a thing about the lag. Oh well.
