  • I use at present, an inexpensive powdered detergent, made in Mexico, that Home Depot sells. It suds well in our hard water, has "enzymes" and probably a slurry of "chemicals", but I use it sparingly, and don't mind the very light "scent". Most of all, I like the older type of top loader, like you seem to have, too...as there is no rival substitute for a thorough rinse with "lots" of water. I am not a fan of all the new, front loaders that use very little water...do they really rinse out the soil

  • @ampdavolts I've used powered detergents in the past including the powder version of this Seventh Generation brand, but found that sometimes it would leave a powder residue on dark colors. After that got annoying, I swore to only use liquid ones from then one.

  • @phototristan, hi tristan. I would like to try Seventh Generation brand some day, as anything that does the job without petro-chemicals and such, seems more desirable. I don't wear dark colors much, but have never had a problem with powder stains on black, myself. I'm more of a yellow shirt sort of guy. Thanks, pal, for all your work. Look up "the shaving cream song" on YT? It's old-time dirty humor, clean at root. No stains.

  • @egchanceify Seventh Generation seems equal to if not better to me.

  • @phototristan Does it clean as well as the tide? Or do you notice spots that it could have dealt with a little bit better?

  • @egchanceify I've been using it like 2 years. I think it costs about the same as Tide, maybe a little more.

  • @phototristan How long have you been using this Seventh Generation detergent? What's the price difference between it and Cold water Tide?

  • @egchanceify Yeah, that's sorta my issue. I am very sensitive to scents like that so I use no dryer sheets and don't like laundry detergents that have a scent.

  • @phototristan The smell doesn't stay for long, because in the dryer I use those bounce sheets. So all my clothes end up smelling like bounce.

  • @egchanceify I've used Tide before, I don't like the way it makes my clothes smell.
