Not sure if this is a bad idea.
1. You don't use up a pencil all the way to the top and what if you could refill it with graphite alone.
2. Buying a printer is maybe cheap but the ink Cartridge or toner is not
3. The Cartridge is plastic waste.
4. Companies like HP, Lexmark, Epson etc. rely on you buying new printer cartridges they install a chip to prevent you from refilling it form third suppliers
80 % of what they earn is from selling ink and colours only 20 % is from selling the printer.

i like this idea, i think it would be perfect for creating those old school sketch portraits, if you had enough pencil.
