One way this is a 46 mile converted (Rails-To-Trails) that passes through Florida's Citrus, Hernando & Pasco Counties. This trail like many others, is not only fairly flat, but it also has an equestrian trail that follows alongside various portions. The southern trailhead (Owensboro Junction Trailhead), on US 301, is 6 miles north of Dade City. Heading north one will cross through the towns of Trilby, Floral City and Inverness en route to the most northern trailhead, the Gulf Junction Trailhead. NOTE FOR CYCLISTS: There are a couple of Bicycle shops actually on the trail. Hampton's Edge in Istachatta and Suncoast Bicycles in Inverness.

  • RANS: A friend from NJ, who is an great hill climber (his race specialty) , vacationed here a couple years ago. One ride on 3/4 of the Pinellas Trail wasted him. It was our December heat (compared to NJs) combined w/ the stop-go-surge (REPEAT) criterium training style of riding through the many stop signs & road crossings that did him in. Surprised you like hills but not the Pin. Trail. If you do the entire trail R/T you get to ride 18 bridges plus the uphill past Wall Springs Park 2X.

  • ALSO: When riding with others, I will utilize the Target store at S.R. 54 and Suncoast Parkway.

  • The Suncoast trail is out in the middle of nowhere. If you know some stops on this trail, please let me know. I like the little hills on this trail. The Pinellas trail was too urban for me.

  • I USE THESE:

@ S.R. 50 east of the trail there's a 7-11. It can be found @ the junction of 50 & Wiscon Rd. Exit the trail @ the official trailhead for US 50. Be careful returning from 7-11 cuz you will have to make a left across US 50 to get back to the trailhead.

County Highway 574 (Spring Hill) West of the trail is a 7-11, a Publix & places to eat, grab a drink & have an A/C'd reststop.

1.5 miles east of the trail at County Line Road (Pasco/Hernando line) There's a Hess Express.

  • Good video! I love this trail! There aren't too many street crossings and there are many places to stop to eat and drink. I usually save the Shamrock stop for after the ride, I didn't even know they had breakfast. I was there St. Patrick's day and had a great time...

  • I am glad that I was able to enlighten you about the breakfast. Shamrocks is truly an awesome place to have near a bike trail! If you ever need recommendations on where to dine while over on the areas other trails Suncoast/Pinellas... Give me a shout via my email here within my profile.

  • Thanks for the compliment. This weekend is the Withlacoochee Clean Air Ride for 2009. It offers a grand variety of distances from 12 miles to a full century (100 miles). It is incredibly well organized and the supports stations are very well stocked... Not to mention the spread laid out afterward... I think I go just to eat!

  • very kool video dude......we loved it.....
