    Hi, do you know what kind of steel is used for the (reeds?) and where i could get it? i really want to make one. I never found any for sale here in Brazil, but actually i want to make my own note layout too! thanks

    it's high carbon spring steel. 1/8" x .045. You may be able to find it in the form of electricians fish tape which is used to pull wires through conduit. Good luck with your project and don't hesitate to ask for advice. :)

    that may happen some day but then we'd be giving away all our trade secrets

    the truth is, a very high level of craftsmanship is required and a lot of tools. plan on spending well over 100 hours and lots of frustration to create an Array mbira. we've been making these for 20 years.
