  • what did you use for the "B" battery I haven't seen any of them in years

  • @forbearsake

I used a battery eliminator similar to the ARBE III.

  • Is that 135v B+ for the 120 tube? Didn't know they made batteries of >90V.

  • Yes the 135VDC B+ is connected to the last audio output tube, the UX-120.

  • Rick,

This is my second shot at a comment. The first one never took. Congrats on a great completely reversible fix. I never would have come up with that idea.

I still can't quite figure out the bolts, washers and nuts. Is their purpose to prevent one clamp from moving independently from the other, thus throwing the variable caps out of sync?

    Regards,

    John

    .

  • Thanks John,

Yes. The plastic tubing is a bit to flexible. The washers and nut and screw, can be adjusted for flexibly. The closer to the end of the hose clamps, the more flexible it is, but it still keeps the three variable caps from moving independently. It works pretty good for a very inexpensive fix. I really did not want to remove any of the variable capacitor if possible.

    Regards,

    Rick

  • That is marvelous! I love that moveable coil L7

  • Thanks Gary,

I hope it will be useful. While I have it on the workbench I will try and make an operations video. It is not the easiest radio to tune. You do not necessarily get the best response when the filament volt is up all the way.

  • You did a great job in coming up with a unique way to fix the broken variable capacitor linkage in your radio. I really enjoyed the explanation of the circuit. This will be so helpful when I finally power up my Radiola 20. Gary

  • Thanks,

Just make sure you do not use anything that has a black color because to get the black color the manufacture may have used carbon. And Carbon will short out the RF.
