Each year, the Christmas concert presented by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square is seen by more than 85,000 people live and by millions more via television broadcast. It is a full-scale production featuring world-class musicians, soloists, dancers, narrators, and music that leaves viewers in awe year after year. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir has recorded nearly 200 albums over the past 100 years, with five gold records, two platinum records, and a Grammy. The latest recording, Glad Christmas Tidings, marks the 40th project to come out on the Choir's independently-owned recording label. This year, the Choir was joined by pop music sensation and platinum recording artist David Archuleta. David's clear and powerful vocals paired with the Choir's classic Christmas sound makes this album a must-have for any Christmas collection. The 12-track album includes live recordings from the Choir's 2010 Christmas concert from Temple Square, a dream come true for Archuleta, who was raised listening to the Choir from a very young age. Archuleta is the youngest performer ever to headline the holiday concert. He joins a long list of award-winning performers to take the stage with the Choir at Christmas, such as Natalie Cole, Angela Lansbury, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Audra McDonald and Bryn Terfel. The album also includes a bonus track, in which famed actor Michael York recounts the story of John Parry, an early director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
