@brunobonatcardoso beyond learning it for traditional purposes, use it as a tool to learn "hip vibrations." Focus on gripping the floor with your feet, and throwing your techniques off of the hip without the benefit of a full rotation. Additionally, this kata forces you to complete a technique and then relax; to turn your head before you move; to stay on one level plane. I wasn' t originally a huge fan of this kata when I first learned it at 12 years of age, but by 30 it is one of my fave's.

@zoumzizeropano Gee, I thought I was well informed about this. I guess I will need to tell Okazaki, Kawasoe, Yaguchi, Mikami, Katsumata, Ochi, Koyama, Nishiyama etc they taught me poorly. Oh wait a minute!! Is it you that is misinformed? With that attitude, you will never know.

@spann0r well the kata should take 50secs to perform... so its not that slow...its fairly spot on...im guessing sum1 wanted it done in like 10secs? lol.... they obv dont know shotokan or any other style of karate..tempo is very important in the kata.... i saw sum team in a world champ'ships do this kata in 18 secs... what a disgraceful act....it was complete and utter rubbish.... their sensei shud b embarrassed .. whoever they were, they were clueless..... oss

KUGB Is the best
Everbody can say what he wants, but I think that Shotokan's version of the Tekki or Naihanchi kata's are the best. The techniques in this kata are so designed that you can put much power in them. You can't say the same of other karate styles, who practise this kata also. Their version often lacks power and that diminishes the kata's effectiveness.

This is an instructional video, genius - it's supposed to show the sequence of techniques. Hence the slower than normal performance.
