My high-performance (unrestricted) driving session at Velocity 17 in Paramus, NJ. The karts do their full 30 mph and you have to be a licensed driver to run in these races. An extra 6 mph doesn't seem like much, but the karts definitely felt much faster and were a lot harder to control. In the standard races I never had to hit the brakes, I just had to lift at a couple of the corners. In this race you really did need to tap the brakes to make certain corners. Spinning was also a much bigger issue, as you can see in the video.
This was a lot more fun, though. If you came out of the last hairpin right, you could go completely flat though the double-apex sweeper that passes for the start/finish straight. The goal was to just aim for the apex and hang on. There were a few little girls watching who would cheer whenever I (and probably anyone else) went by the straight. That felt good.
I wish I'd had more than one session at full speed. I was taking 2 seconds off each time I got a clean lap in. I feel like with more practice and getting used to the turns, I could trim a lot of time off my laps.
I was at V-17 yesterday

Same! Me too! My second race was also full speed. I was in kart 53 and I was going soo fast, I found out how to drift, and that was the best part!! At the last 2 mins, idk but my kart slowed down to regular speed.. I got sad. Lol
