The Hohenfriedberger March is a Prussian/German march that was written after the Prussian victory over the Austrians (and Saxons) at Hohenfriedberg (nowadays called Dobromierz, South-West Poland) in 1745, and is specially dedicated to the Prussian Dragoner-Regiment Nr. 5, for they have destroyed 20 Austrian and Saxon battalions, took 2,500 prisoners, and captured 67 regimental standards, losing only 6 officers and 28 men killed. Assisting the Prussian to gain a decisive victory, the Austrian Prinz Karl was forced to retreat in disarray. After the charge at Hohenfriedberg, the regiment was permitted to wear a golden 67 on their cartridge cases. They also received a diploma from Frederick the Great, naming all officers who took part in the charge and praising the regiment, as well as granting them their own regimental march, the Hohenfriedberger March, composed by Frederick himself.

[Deutsch]
Auf, Ansbach-Dragoner!
Auf, Ansbach-Bayreuth!
Schnall um deinen Säbel
und rüste dich zum Streit!
Prinz Karl ist erschienen
auf Friedbergs Höh'n,
Sich das preußische Heer
mal anzusehen.

Drum, Kinder, seid lustig
und allesamt bereit:
Auf, Ansbach-Dragoner!
Auf, Ansbach-Bayreuth!
X3

[English]
Forward, Ansbach-Dragoons!
Forward, Ansbach-Bayreuth!
Fasten your saber
and prepare to fight!
Prince Karl appeared
on Friedberg's heights
Watching we the Prussian army.

So, boys, cheer up!
and all set ready
Forward, Ansbach-Dragoons!
Forward, Ansbach-Bayreuth!
X3

X3

  • What about the other two verses?

  • @BlackPanteraSociety I mean the music,its the same.

  • @RTO41 No, the Koeniggraetzer Marsch was written by Johann Gottfried Piefke in 1866 after the Prussian win over the Austrians at Koeniggraetz in the Austro-Prussian War. This was written by Fredrick the Great in 1745 after the Prussian win against the Austrians in Hohenfriedberger in the War of Austrian Succession.

  • @DeutschenVaterland

    It is deleted now :(

  • But... this is just the same as Konningratzer March?

  • Brilliant music

  • Alles gute zum 300 Geburtstag alter Fritz !!

  • I see dead austrians! :IIIIIIIIII

  • @PoliteMoose No , you aren't. The Koeniggraetzer Marsch contains entirely the Hohenfriedberger Marsch melody, but the K.M. has a different start.

  • @PoliteMoose Hohenfriedberger 1745 / königsgrätzer 1866 , nut they sound similiar in some parts !
