This is Ric Gibson's custom built (from the ground up) 1979 Triumph Spitfire powered by a BDC-built street-ported Mazda 13BT Rotary engine. A Turbonetics 60-1 provides boost in the high-altitude, Denver CO area. Video taken in summer '05. Tuned by BDC Motorsports.

  • @TheRogueSS you should try a 280z motor with a 5speed mine was a1967 gt6 sound like a ferrari. and i could blow the doors off most of my friends 911's its not that bad to install. but the hood was a problem. so i had to cut a hole and fiberglass a scoop it looked good when done.

  • nice ride! my friend and i are currently building a '73 Spitfire, only we're swapping in a Nissan SR20DET. should be quite the rocket when we're finished.

  • man you should open up shop and, rebuild spits like this, i wouls love my 78 to look like this, right now i have a MKIII GT6 motor in it

  • I had a 64 Spit! I loved that car. Had just a hard top tho' I always had to watch the weather. Fun car!

  • amazing and beautiful man.. im really impressed.. gret car.. great job.. enjoy it!

  • i've just finnished fitting a new exsaust system on mine. Before it sounded awful! the connection from the rear box had snaped off and still connected to the downpipe, but not to worry, it purrs at you now (btw nice vid i never would have thought of putting a body kit on a spitfire

  • we are currently restoring a spitfire in auto tech at my school nice car

  • great car, i have a 79' too, and im just finished restoring it from the peice o' shit that it was, and now im lookin at tuning it for drifting

  • This guy should write the blueprint to this build. I love spitfire's and this thing is amazing! Right color, rotary engine, great sound.....this is how to build a great looking car into my view near perfection
