I normally don't write long descriptions for my videos but this was important. I have some friends who I will call Jason and Doris from Long Island, NY.
They worked most of their lives, raised a family, and were looking forward to a carefree retirement since the last of their children had recently gone off to college.

Being from the "old school" Jason believed a man was as good as their word and a handshake. Jason didn't realize the old school days were over.

He hired a general contractor to build a sunroom. However, it soon became apparent the person greatly underestimated the time it would take to finish the project.

However, after what seemed like forever, Jason and Doris were able to reclaim their house from the hordes of subcontractors that spend more time talking to each other than working.

The finished sunroom consisted of three glass skylights, two ceiling fans, three bay windows, and a sliding glass door that led to a smaller side patio where Jason's gas grill had been relocated. The floor was covered in carpeting that Doris had picked out herself after scouring the carpet stores all over town.

Looking over the finished job Jason and Doris had to admit that the room looked great!

That Saturday while Jason sat in the kitchen eating breakfast and Doris was happily working at her computer in the new sunroom, a rainstorm started. A short time later Jason heard Doris shout.

Hurrying to the sunroom he found that in the corners of all three skylights there were streams of rainwater pouring into the room. Their sunroom had become a rain forest!

Luckily, they were able to get containers under the leaks in time to prevent the new carpet from being ruined.

The general contractor was summoned back and was very apologetic about the situation, but repeated visits from him and his crew could not fix the issue and Jason was finally forced to fire them and hire someone else to do the job right.

As I write this, the legal responsibility for payment for the bad work is still being debated.

I hope I can give you some friendly advice. If you are thinking about having some contracting work done do some thorough research before signing on the dotted line.

However, if you live on Long Island, I would highly recommend a man who has over 25 years of reputable service under his belt.

His name is Michael Skahan (pronounced Scan) and he is the owner of Michael Skahan Incorporated.

If you need any kind of contracting work done, from roof replacement to bathroom remodeling--and anything in between, he is your man.
Now there is a first time for everything and if you find that you are hesitant to call him because you don't know general contractors from subcontractors, safety planning from construction management, or even OSHA from OGCA you can relax and know Mike will do his very best to meet your every need with fast affordable service.

Let me assure you that my friends wished they had called him first.
