Actually Israel accomplished their objective which was to stop Hezbollah missile strikes into their country. Remember that friendly little meeting between Israeli and Lebanese soldiers during that conflict a few years ago - no moves until Bush gives the go ahead. I agree that Iran is too sticky to touch because the Chinese and Russians have too much invested there. Israel has a far better airforce than Iran back in 2008 the did a practice drill to strike Iran the went 900 out into the Med sea the same distance it would take to reach Iran.
