Blade's blog:
http://thelittleblogofblade.blogspot.com/
It's officially been a year since i began riding blade. My god, what a year it's been! Before Blade i had never ''brought something on'' or ridden anything young consistantly. Blade was a massive leap for me. But, i think over the past year alongside Louie, he has taught me SO much. It all began when i began jumping him, he'd only ever vaguely seen coloured poles before. We began with small cross poles and he used to balloon them, literally 5ft in the air. The feeling he gave me was totally awesome. However, he was so difficult to ride it took me so long to get used to him, the amount of times i almost fell off him either from rearing or pinging me out of the saddle was enormous! lol!! But he was so willing to learn, jumping, he tried his little heart out. But on the yard he was labelled ''a rearer'' and ''dangerous'' and i was told to stop riding him, avoid sitting on him at all costs, his owner and I were even told to have him PTS. That was the final straw, im a stubborn, determind person and when im told i can't do something, i will go and do it. So i carried on, delt with the rearing in a calm+positive manner, we used to take him into the school really early or late, so no-one saw and when he was coming into his own and really shining people began watching him and actually saw his real potential, we didnt want to hide it away but the equestrian world is nasty nasty place at the best of times and along with sally's work. It all paid off, he was turning into a beautiful all round horse. His jumping improved no end, he began to listen and really put his all into it. It was only when we started putting the jumps up we realized his pure love for jumping. Every single fence put infront of him, he jumped it from 2'3 to 1m40. It's been a rollercoaster ride with this little horse, but so so worth it. I am so enormously proud of him, he's been xc schooling twice, into sj competitions twice and been placed 3 times!! He's done his first BSJA with only one silly rider error! I am so so proud of him! I would also like to add: Blade has no fancy bloodlines and wasn't purchased for 15,000 pounds - yet he has turned into a complete superstar- you dont have to have the money to have a wonderful horse so never give up, because the end result is ALWAYS worth it!!
Of course, none of this would have been possible without his owner, Sally. Working together has produced the horse he is today. I could not have done it without sallys perseverance with everything. She has been the biggest support to me over the last year, not just with Blade but with everything i've ridden including Louie. She has been the one to turn round and tell me im being stupid when i say i want to give up. She was the one who stuck up for whenever i had stupid accusations made against me and she was the one who has stood in the rain and cold at shows with me just for moral support. (Along with my wonderful mummy!). So thankyou for that, i really do appriciate it!
Thankyou to everyone who has supported me with Blade, its been invaluble to me.
No crit, come sit on him yourself, hes picky with his riders so good luck not eating dirt! LOL
i find it amazing how if you hadnt of started riding to help sally, we would never of discovered his INSANE talent for being a jumping beast !! xx
